Meet Mango Pay’s new Senior Relationship Manager.
Great people are at the heart of the Mango Pay story. So, when talented professionals join our team, we like to shout about it. John Appiah is one of the newest additions at Mango Pay, bringing his impressive expertise to the role of Senior Relationship Manager. We sat down with him to talk payroll, professional experience, and his first impressions of the Mango Pay team.
Hi John! Thanks for speaking with us. How long have you been with the business?
I just joined a few weeks ago!
Can you tell us a little about your professional background?
I worked in the payroll industry for five years in a number of organisations. I really enjoyed working in the payroll industry and transitioned into a Business Development Manager role.
From there, I moved into recruitment with ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants) and a Canadian start-up, Tundra, enabling their UK presence. I then took the decision to move back to payroll, a specialism that I felt very comfortable with, and worked with Parasol and Target before I was introduced to Mango Pay and Tim Hunt. I immediately felt like Tim was honest and professional, someone I wanted to work for.
What do you bring to the table in your new role?
I feel like I can have an impact at Mango Pay, driving the business forward and helping to support the strategic direction of the company. I am looking forward to working closely with Tim Hunt and David Pardoe – I hope my expertise and strategic input will be valuable!
What is a typical day like at Mango Pay?
I’m busy contacting clients and prospects for new business, scheduling appointments, attending meetings, and getting in front of as many contacts as possible. I also take time to address any issues and identify potential service improvements. Then there is client entertainment, of course!
What are your first impressions of Mango Pay?
The team here are incredibly united, focused, and personal. There is a strong sense that everyone is working together and committed to the success of the business. No one here is just ‘doing a job’ – Mango Pay is a family and I want to help to develop, grow, and enhance what we do here through systems and processes.
Thank you for taking the time to speak to us, John. We wish you every success in your new role!
